We always connect using the application layer, not directly to DB. We support following protocols:

6. Is this compliant with SAP Note# 3255746 that prohibits the use of ODP API for non-SAP applications?

7. Can I still use this to #STREAM-Intelligence to datalake?

Yes, we support Azure Datalake, Fabric Onelake, AWS S3, GCP CS, as well as NFS file share.

8. What SAP object types are supported?

We support following SAP object types (standard or custom Z) :

• Tables & Views [Full or delta CDC]

9. Is SAP BTP supported?

Yes, we support integration with SAP BTP using:

10. How is delta with CDC from tables supported?

We support delta from SAP tables & views in following modes:

• Time-series based: Date & time stamp 

• Document number based: SAP Document number & Item number

11. How is delta from reports / TCODES supported?

We leverage SAP variants on selection screen to incrementally #STREAM-Intelligence from reports etc. Of course, this is dependent on availability of time-series parameters (like date & time) on the selection screen.

12. What are the data formats supported?

Currently, we support following output formats for SAP data:

• CSV 

• JSON

• XML

• XLSX

• Parquet

13. Does the user need to code in SAP or apps [eg CDS etc]?

This a no-code API with one simple, consistent interface for #STREAM-Intelligence from >1.3 million SAP objects. By changing configuration in the app or JSON (eg, Azure or PowerBI), user will be able to get requested information.

14. How do we synch information security authorizations from SAP?

We support end to end security authorizations by using native SAP authorizations on any cloud, app or API endpoint. Basically, user is authenticated with their SAP credentials and their authorizations are carried over to consuming application. Eg, if user X is authorized in SAP to view purchasing data from company 1000 only (& not company 2000), he will automatically inherit the same security in the consuming application. 

Any changes made to their authorizations in SAP are automatically reflected in the application without any need for replication.

We highly recommend using SAP semantic models securely, instead of extracting tables data to 3rd party applications.

15. How do we secure information from SAP to cloud?

We support end to end information security using following mechanisms:

• HTTPS

• SAS tokens

• Public Signed URL

16. Do I need to code CDS views in SAP?

No. Existing CDS views are supported, but by using ready-to-use semantic data like reports, TCODEs etc without writing any code you are business ready from day-1.

17. Are custom objects like Z tables / reports etc supported?

Yes.

18. Is real-time supported?

Yes, using the REST API.

19. Is batch scheduling supported?

Yes, using SAP SM37, SAP BTP, Azure DF, Fabric, API Gateway or other scheduler tool.

20. Can I get business friendly labels from SAP data?

Yes, following labels are supported:

• Business labels

• Technical field names

• Both of above

23. What scheduling mechanisms are supported

We natively support SAP BTP, SM37, Fabric, ADF, PowerBI and Python based scheduling. The API is suitable for scheduling using other REST API compliant tools as well.

24. Is there a row length limitation for streaming?

Currently, supported maximum length is 2048 bytes. For tables with longer row lengths, we support specific column names to be extracted.

25. How are long running jobs handled?

We recommend using SAP background jobs scheduling using automated functionality. By setting parameter SY_BATCH = 'X', long running jobs will be scheduled automatically in the background to avoid ABAP timeouts. It also allows maintenance teams to manage long running jobs using SAP's native job management tools.

26. I need to streaming from a table to run independently.

USB4SAP allows setting independent & parallel threads for streaming data from tables and managing them as independent jobs in SAP.

27. Do I get support for installation phase?

Yes, you have the option to:

28. How is PowerBI/ Fabric connected to SAP?

• We use standard REST API protocol over HTTPS to connect to SAP

• PowerBI/ Fabric / Excel and other Microsoft solutions support PowerQuery / M language, which is used within these tools make the connection request.

29. What data is logged while streaming?

    • The business data is not logged into any tables in SAP. A minimal journal of object name, date & time is kept to maintain technical log, which is also used for delta runs. 

30. Is there a need for activating SAP change pointers?

    • No. Our patented technology uses unique light weight delta capture mechanism which does not depend on the change pointers activation.
